Abstract
Drilling fluids are the most critical parameter in the drilling process and due to the rapid development in the drilling industry. It is very significant to improve the physical properties of drilling fluids to satisfy the increasing demands. Xanthan gum polymer is a natural polysaccharide and an important industrial biopolymer. This product is widely used in drilling fluid industry nowadays. The main objective of this study is investigating the effect of Xanthan gum polymer on the physical properties of WBM drilling fluid. Series of laboratory experiments were carried out for different concentration of xanthan gum polymer at different temperatures. The laboratory experiments included measuring the physical properties of drilling fluid such as density, viscosity, filtration and mud cake.
